Our lab is pleased to have organized, co-organized, or sponsored a variety of events over the years.

Recurring activities

• The IU Intelligent and Interactive Seminar Series is a weekly talk series focusing on artificial intelligence and broadly related areas (machine learning, robotics, computer vision, natural language processing, cognitive science, etc). All are welcome!
• The IU Computer Vision Reading Group is a weekly meeting to discuss current papers in computer vision and machine learning. Email David Crandall for more information.
• The Intelligent and Interactive Systems Open House is an annual poster and demo session (normally in April) in conjunction with other faculty and labs to showcase student research in the general area of AI.

Workshops and meetings

• The Second International Workshop on The Bright and Dark Sides of Computer Vision: Challenges and Opportunities for Privacy and Security (CV-COPS 2018) was held at CVPR 2018 in Salt Lake City in June 2018.
• The Third International Workshop on the Social Web for Environmental and Ecological Monitoring (SWEEM 2018) was held at ICWSM 2018 at Stanford in June 2018.
• Second International Workshop on Egocentric Perception, Interaction, and Computing (EPIC 2017) was held at ICCV 2017 in Venice in October 2017, to explore the applications and challenges of wearable camera devices.
• The First International Workshop on The Bright and Dark Sides of Computer Vision: Challenges and Opportunities for Privacy and Security (CV-COPS 2017) was held at CVPR 2017 in Honolulu in July 2017. Computer vision is finally working in the real world, but what are the consequences on privacy and security? This workshop explored the intersection between computer vision and security and privacy to address these issues.
• Workshop on Egocentric Vision: From Science to Real-World Applications was held at IU Bloomington in June 2017. It brought together leading scholars from human and computer vision, to explore opportunities for collaboration and to help plan the future of this emerging area.
• The Second International Workshop on the Social Web for Environmental and Ecological Monitoring (SWEEM 2017) was held at WebSci 2017 in Troy, NY in June 2017. The goal was to bring together a combination of academic and industrial participants to discuss ideas, challenges, and solutions at the intersection of Social Media and Environmental/Ecological Science.
• The First International Workshop on the Social Web for Environmental and Ecological Monitoring (SWEEM 2016) was held at ICWSM 2017 in Cologne, Germany in May 2016.
